Kaisa Kiipula works as a development manager for the technology team at Finnish Minerals Group. Get to know more about her and her job in the mineral industry.
What are you working on?
I am working in several different EU-projects of which NEMO is one, in which I am acting as a work package leader on work package related to metals and minerals recovery. In addition, when the schedule allows, I am working on my doctoral thesis project.
What attracts you in the research project you are working on?
The NEMO project offers diverse opportunities to collaborate with different partners in the field of circular economy in raw materials sector. It’s always nice to get know new people from different parts of Europe.
Where do you work? What do you like about your organization or the city you live in?
I work as a Development Manager at Finnish Minerals Group. At FMG we are a close-knit group of people with varying educational and professional backgrounds. This provides a highly motivational working environment with good development opportunities.
FMG´s office is located at the heart of Helsinki. The city center is a great place to work and offers a lot of different options also for spending free time.
What’s something you want to do in the next year that you’ve never done before?
I plan on enrolling on kick boxing beginners’ course which has been a plan of mine for some years now.
BIO
Kaisa was born in Helsinki, Finland. She has studied chemical engineering and plant design and holds a Master of Science degree from Aalto University and is currently pursuing doctoral studies at the Department of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering.
She started at FMG (at that time called Terrafame Group) as a master’s thesis worker studying different solutions for sulfate management in mine waters. After concluding my thesis, I joined the company first as a research scientist and then as a development manager. Her tasks include coordination and management of different types of development projects.
